Beaver Falls Tigers Baseball 2003

Section 6-AA 4-6, 6-11 Overall

Going into a season with high expectations may not always be a good thing.  The Tiger baseball team did just that in 2003. After losing only two players to graduation, and returning seven letter winners from the previous season, expectations were set on a winning season. The team was looking forward to defeating Ellwood City and gaining the section 6-AA crown. After several disappointing losses to start the season, the Tigers rebounded to win a few section games down the stretch.  The Tigers ended the season with a respectable third place finish but only at 4-6.  There were, however, several bright spots:  Rocky Washington hit five home runs and the Tigers defeated Ellwood City for the first time in five years.  Through the many downfalls and disappointments during the season, the Tigers played hard until the end.  This was evident in a hard fought loss with Shenango in the final game.  Excerpted from The Tiger, 2003.
