The Tigers ended their season with a 12-2 section record which was good enough for a shared section title with Monaca. The leading hitter for Beaver Falls was Jerry Helisek with a .429 batting average. The leading pitcher was Benny Carter with a 7-0 record. Junior John Fritz, also had an excellent year on the mound with a team-leading 1.01 ERA. John also showed excellent control as he walked only eleven batters and struck out sixty-three. John won the first playoff game against South Side by pitching a one-hit shutout. Vince Gratteri won the Eugene Palka award for his fine all-around performance. Vince batted .397 and had a 4-1 pitching record. The Tigers ended the season with a team batting average of .333. Excerpted from Tiger Volume 70.
